The H21A1 is a slotted optical switch. The H21A1 slotted optical switch is a gallium arsenide light emitting diode coupled to a silicon photo transistor in a plastic housing. The packaging system of the H21A1 is designed to optimize the mechanical resolution, coupling efficiency, ambient light rejection, cost and reliability. The gap of the H21A1 in the housing provides a means of interrupting the signal with an opaque material, switching the output from an ON to an OFF state.
